Given the vast number of didactic and methodological approaches, this study serves as an introduction to didactics in general German, language, writing, and literature instruction. The organizational framework is based on areas of learning and competence to facilitate lesson planning. Character development in the context of German didactics broadens the scope of considerations regarding the importance of speech and language.The study is intended as a contribution to lesson planning, characterized by challenges that must be addressed on a case-by-case basis. Engaging with these concepts should set a process of reflection in motion. German didactics refers to the subject-specific didactics of the German language, which scientifically addresses research, teaching, and development topics as well as the learning and teaching processes in German language instruction.
