In einer In-vitro-Studie wurde die zeitabhängige Dimensionsstabilität von vier interokklusalen Aufzeichnungsmaterialien (Bissregistrierungswachs, Polyether, PVS und ZOE) untersucht. Ein Stumpf aus rostfreiem Stahl, hergestellt nach der modifizierten ADA-Spezifikation Nr. 19, wurde mit verschiedenen interokklusalen Aufzeichnungsmaterialien gefüllt. Diese Materialien wurden 3 Minuten nach ihrer jeweiligen Aushärtungszeit von der Matrize getrennt, wodurch Scheiben mit Standarddurchmesser mit zwei parallelen Linien und drei senkrechten Linien auf der Oberfläche in verschiedenen Zeitintervallen, d. h. 1 Stunde, 24, 48 und 72 Stunden, entstanden. Diese Linien werden unter dem Wandermikroskop (Magnus) beobachtet und nach Längenkriterien sortiert, um die Dimensionsstabilität des Materials zu ermitteln. Der Abstand zwischen den beiden parallelen Linien wurde dann in verschiedenen Zeitintervallen gemessen, um die Dimensionsstabilität des Materials zu ermitteln. Das Ergebnis des Vergleichs zeigte, dass Polyether in allen Zeitintervallen die geringsten linearen Veränderungen aller getesteten Materialien aufwies, gefolgt von PVS bzw. Aluwax, wobei ZOE am wenigsten stabil ist.
