El acceso a agua limpia es un problema crítico que afecta a numerosas comunidades en todo el mundo, especialmente en áreas rurales y regiones empobrecidas. Las consecuencias de la falta de acceso a agua potable son diversas y profundas, afectando la salud, la economía, educación y el medio ambiente de las comunidades afectadas. Enfermedades transmitidas por el agua: La falta de agua limpia está directamente relacionada con la propagación de enfermedades como el cólera, la disentería, la fiebre, tifoidea y la diarrea. Según la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), enfermedades diarreicas provocadas por agua contaminada matan a alrededor de 485,000 personas cada año, muchas de ellas niños menores de cinco años. De los cuales afecta la desnutrición la diarrea crónica y otras enfermedades relacionadas con el agua contaminada pueden llevar a la desnutrición, especialmente en niños, debido a la pérdida continua de nutrientes esenciales y la incapacidad del cuerpo para absorber alimentos adecuadamente.
