Die idiopathische Lungenfibrose ist eine chronische, fortschreitende Erkrankung, die durch eine aberrante Proliferation der Fibroblasten und eine Anhäufung von Proteinen der extrazellulären Matrix gekennzeichnet ist, was zu Atemnot führt. In dieser Forschungsarbeit fiel unsere Wahl auf Carnosinsäure, eine bioaktive Substanz, die aus Rosmarin gewonnen wird, um ihre Wirksamkeit in vivo in einem experimentellen Modell der Bleomycin-induzierten Lungenfibrose (BLM) bei Wistar-Ratten und in vitro bei menschlichen Lungenfibroblasten (HLF) zu bewerten. Der erste Teil in vitro zeigte, dass AC dosisabhängig die Apoptose von HLF induziert, begleitet von einem Zellzyklusstopp in der G0/G1-Phase und einer Aktivierung der Expression der Signalproteine Akt, p38-MAPK und p21. Teil 2 bestätigte die schützende Wirkung dieses Biomoleküls in vivo auf den fibrosierenden Prozess und den oxidativen Stress, die durch die BLM induziert werden. Angesichts dieser Ergebnisse wäre es interessant, die Wirksamkeit von CA bei bestimmten Krankheiten zu testen, deren Pathophysiologie von Entzündungen, oxidativem Stress und Zellproliferation dominiert wird.
