La presente ricerca mira a valutare l’efficacia dell’Opuntia ficus-indica come coagulante naturale nel trattamento delle acque reflue grigie. La ricerca ha uno scopo sperimentale ed esplicativo, consistente nella raccolta delle acque grigie per elaborare un disegno campionario a blocchi e nel successivo test con l’apparecchiatura di prova in barattolo; diverse dosi di polvere coagulante sono state applicate dopo la raccolta, la riduzione, l’essiccazione, la macinazione del gambo e la setacciatura della farina. Come risultato, è stata ottenuta una dose ottimale di 1,625 g/l di coagulante naturale per il trattamento delle acque grigie, con la quale è stata raggiunta una maggiore efficienza nella rimozione degli inquinanti, così che per la torbidità è stato ottenuto il 90%, per i TSS l’83%, per il BOD il 74%, per il COD il 38% e per i nitriti il 73%; si conclude che l ’Opuntia ficus-indica, come coagulante naturale, è efficiente per il trattamento delle acque grigie e per il successivo utilizzo di queste.
