A presente investigação visa avaliar a eficiência da Opuntia ficus-indica como coagulante natural no tratamento de águas residuais cinzentas. A investigação é experimental e explicativa no seu âmbito, consistindo na recolha de água cinzenta para elaborar um desenho de amostra em bloco e os seus subsequentes testes no equipamento de ensaio em frasco; diferentes doses de pó coagulante foram aplicadas após a recolha, redução, secagem, moagem do talo e peneiração da farinha. Como resultado, foi obtido 1,625 g/l como dose óptima de coagulante natural para o tratamento de água cinzenta, com o qual se conseguiu uma maior eficiência na remoção de poluentes, de modo que para turbidez 90%, TSS 83%, CBO 74%, COD 38% e Nitrito 73%; conclui-se que Opuntia ficus-indica como coagulante natural, é eficiente para o tratamento de água cinzenta e a posterior utilização destes.
