Le titanate de baryum (BaTiO3 : BT) est un matériau potentiel important, principalement en raison de sa réponse ferromagnétique, de sa constante diélectrique élevée et de sa large bande interdite, qui sont très utiles dans les applications électroniques. Un titanate de baryum (BaTiO3) ferroélectrique pervoskite typique a été préparé par une variété de techniques telles que la synthèse mécano-chimique, la méthode sol-gel, la pyrolyse par pulvérisation et la réaction solvothermique/hydrothermique. La méthode hydrothermique est à la fois prometteuse et encourageante en raison de la faible température du processus et de la facilité avec laquelle il est possible de contrôler la taille des particules. Le processus hydrothermal présente divers avantages par rapport à d’autres processus de croissance, tels que l’utilisation d’un équipement simple, la croissance sans catalyseur, le faible coût, la production importante et uniforme, le respect de l’environnement et, enfin, la réduction des risques. Les autres avantages de la synthèse hydrothermale pour la préparation de BaTiO3 de taille nanométrique sont les suivants : i) elle donne des particules fines et une distribution de taille étroite, ii) elle produit du BaTiO3 cristallin, iii) elle est moins contaminée et iv) elle permet d’obtenir différentes morphologies.
