Women in comedy have traditionally been pegged as either 'pretty' or 'funny.' Attractive actresses with good comic timing such as Katherine Hepburn, Lucille Ball, and Julia Roberts have always gotten plum roles as the heroines of romantic comedies and television sitcoms.
