Tak się złożyło, że praca ta została zainspirowana globalnym zamieszaniem wokół islamu, wynikającym z wydarzeń z 11 września, które wraz z późniejszymi wydarzeniami musiały być postrzegane i dyskutowane we właściwym kontekście nauk i wartości Koranu. Najświeższe źródło najbardziej wiarygodnej nauki islamskiej jest jednocześnie historycznie najstarsze: Koran. To, co autor ostatecznie odkrył, że ani czytanie, ani recytowanie, ani nawet uczenie się Koranu, ale raczej sięganie po skarby Koranu, było (i na zawsze pozostanie) istotnym kluczem do wszystkich odpowiedzi, których tak chętnie szukamy. Jeśli wystarczająco i prawidłowo słuchane, Koran z pewnością pomoże tych, którzy chcą pomóc sobie i jednocześnie chcą służyć potrzebom świata na lepsze i wysoce godne życie. Niemniej jednak, 'Odkrywanie Islamu' nie jest wezwaniem do nawrócenia się na Islam, ale raczej przypomnieniem dla wszystkich muzułmanów o tym, co jest nakazane w Koranie, a mianowicie, że muzułmanie są zobowiązani do bycia dobrymi dla świata, 'tak jak Bóg był dobry dla nich'.
