The media repeatedly reports on a shortage of skilled workers. In this context, the question naturally arises as to whether enough young people are being trained. At present, this cannot be determined in the skilled trades. Training is provided for whatever can be trained. This paper highlights the problems involved in recruiting young talent. It also identifies the factors that influence the demand for skilled workers and young talent and clarifies whether and in which occupations there is already a shortage of skilled workers.
