La région de l’Extrême-nord du Cameroun, frontalière du nord-est du Nigéria, reçoit au quotidien le flot incessant de nouvelles macabres venant de la frontière. Dès le début de ses opérations hors de Maiduguri, Boko Haram a utilisé les marges comme zone de repli et espace de transit pour les armes et munitions à partir de sources d’approvisionnement en dehors du Cameroun. Cette région est récemment devenue le théâtre d’une recrudescence d’attaques perpétrées par le groupe terroriste nigérian Boko Haram. Ces incursions qui continuent à sévir dans la région, ciblent les villages, les centres de santé et les positions des forces armées camerounaises pour se ravitailler en nourriture, en bétail, en médicaments et en armes. Enlèvements, attentat-suicides à répétition et attaques à l’arme lourde sont ainsi devenus le quotidien des populations locales. La recrudescence de ces attaques prouve que malgré les lourds moyens militaires investis, la menace terroriste dans la région est toujours présente, et que la secte islamiste garde une importante capacité de nuisance. Mais comment expliquer ce regain d’activité du groupe djihadiste dans la région ?
