A asma é um importante problema de saúde pública que afecta todos os grupos etários. O objetivo deste estudo foi determinar o nível de controlo da asma de acordo com os diferentes grupos etários dos adultos ([20-40], [41-64], ≥ 65 anos) e identificar os factores associados a um mau controlo da asma. Foram incluídos 80 doentes. O grupo etário mais representado foi o [41-64] . Os indivíduos [20-40 anos] apresentaram um controlo da asma estatisticamente mais fraco. Os indivíduos [41-64 anos] apresentaram um bom nível de controlo, mas não houve diferença entre os três grupos. O estudo univariado mostrou que, nos indivíduos com idades entre os 20 e os 40 anos, a história de doença de refluxo gastro-esofágico ou de depressão, o peso mais baixo, o índice de massa corporal mais baixo e um nível mais elevado de tabagismo estavam associados a um mau controlo. Nos indivíduos com 65 anos ou mais, uma capacidade vital forçada de dilatação pré-bronco mais baixa foi associada a um mau controlo da asma.
