Elle fournit à la personne différents types d’informations qu’elle peut utiliser dans sa vie quotidienne.Par conséquent, la lecture est un élément essentiel dans la vie d’un enfant, car elle lui permet de découvrir des connaissances essentielles sur le monde dans lequel il vit. La lecture n’est cependant qu’un élément intrinsèque qui prend naissance chez l’enfant. Au fur et à mesure que l’enfant est soumis à l’éducation formelle par l’école en tant qu’entité responsable de l’éducation formelle de l’enfant, il s’agit d’un ensemble de compétences qui finissent par évoluer. Mais tous les apprenants ne peuvent pas s’adapter aux programmes et aux interventions en matière de lecture. Les élèves ayant des besoins particuliers continueront à éprouver des difficultés en lecture malgré de nombreuses interventions et programmes, comme l’indiquent Justice et Kaderavek (2013).
