La guerra mette in pericolo l’umanità e minaccia la continuazione della civiltà umana. Si dice spesso che la maggior parte delle guerre derivi dall’impulso predatorio egemonico della mascolinità. In Africa, come nella maggior parte delle altre parti del mondo, ogni volta che c’è una guerra (o una violenza di massa di qualsiasi altra natura), la gente comune viene usata come carne da cannone per proteggere i potenti della classe superiore che formulano le lettere della guerra. Le donne, i bambini e gli 'altri' uomini sono facilmente i più vulnerabili. Sono violentati, torturati, uccisi, affamati, vedovi ed esposti a ogni sorta di insicurezza e depredazione. Alla fine, come sostengono le femministe, sono caratterizzate in modo marginale nei discorsi di guerra della classe superiore, dominati dagli uomini.
