O boro é um microelemento do solo com uma margem estreita entre a deficiência e a toxicidade. Os resultados mostram que o boro disponível diminui com a profundidade nos solos calcários (Luvisol-1, Vertisol, Fluvisol e Cambisol), enquanto aumenta nos solos não calcários (Luvisol-2 e Luvisol-3). Os solos calcários contêm mais boro total do que os solos não calcários. O fracionamento químico mostra que o boro facilmente solúvel representa menos de 1,7% do total, enquanto a fração residual excede 97,5%. O fracionamento granulométrico revela que a maior parte do boro disponível está associada à fração siltosa (51%), seguida das fracções arenosa (34%) e argilosa (15%). Em termos de substâncias húmicas, os ácidos húmicos representam 70,69% do boro total, em comparação com 27,88% para os ácidos fúlvicos e 1,43% para a humina. A adsorção e a dessorção seguem a isoterma de Freundlich, com alta retenção de boro durante o processo de dessorção. Em hidroponia, a dose ideal de boro para a alface (Lactuca sativa L.) é de 0,5-5 mg/kg para evitar a toxicidade. No entanto, para a alface cultivada no solo, essa concentração pode exceder 5 mg/kg.
