So heißt es z.B. in Dan. 7,10, dass sich das Gericht setzte und Bücher geöffnet wurden oder in Offb. 3,5, dass nur diejenigen im Buch des Leben stehen bleiben die sich an Jesus und an seinem Erlösungswerk festhalten. Doch nun taucht die „Theologie des Buches' auch in den Psalmen auf. In dieser Arbeit werde ich mich auf den Psalm 69,26 konzentrieren um exegetische herauszuarbeiten was das Buch des Lebens ist und welche Funktion es hat. Wann der Terminus „Buch des Lebens' benutzt wird und in welchem theologischem Rahmen er auftaucht. Welche Rolle das Buch das Lebens bei David im Kontext von Psalm 69 einnimmt und wie es in apokalyptischen Schriften verwendet wird. Die sind die führenden Fragen und Inhalte die in dieser Arbeit zum tragen kommen.
