A ansiedade pré-operatória é um fenómeno frequente nas crianças. Foram desenvolvidas várias abordagens farmacológicas e não farmacológicas para prevenir esta ansiedade e reduzir o seu impacto. No entanto, a pré-medicação continua a ser a abordagem mais utilizada.As benzodiazepinas foram durante muito tempo consideradas como o fármaco de eleição para os doentes pediátricos. No entanto, devido aos seus efeitos adversos, vários estudos tentaram encontrar uma alternativa. Alguns autores estudaram o efeito da clonidina na ansiólise perioperatória.O objetivo do nosso trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da pré-medicação com clonidina intranasal na ansiedade pré-operatória no momento da separação pais-filho e à entrada no bloco operatório.
