Les polymères sont responsables d’une grande partie de la dégradation de l’environnement parce qu’ils sont dérivés du pétrole, c’est-à-dire qu’il s’agit de sources non renouvelables et que leur décomposition prend des centaines d’années. L’objectif général de ce travail est de produire un biopolymère à partir de l’amidon de manioc, et les objectifs spécifiques sont d’extraire l’amidon du manioc, de favoriser l’hydrolyse acide de l’amidon à l’aide d’acide chlorhydrique 0,1M, de développer le biopolymère et d’analyser le temps de décomposition de ce biopolymère. Pour extraire cet amidon, un certain nombre d’opérations unitaires ont été réalisées au cours du processus d’extraction, les principales étant le broyage, le filtrage, la décantation et le séchage de l’amidon, qui a ensuite été pesé en 5 grammes et chauffé avec de l’eau, pendant ce chauffage, 6 ml d’acide chlorhydrique 0,1M ont été ajoutés afin de favoriser l’hydrolyse acide (décomposition) de l’amidon, et pour que ce biopolymère acquière une forme plus malléable, il est nécessaire d’ajouter un agent plastifiant, auquel 4 ml de glycérol (glycérine) ont été ajoutés.
