O uso e a cobertura do solo tornaram-se componentes centrais nas estratégias atuais de gestão dos recursos naturais e monitorização das alterações ambientais. O mapeamento e a monitorização das alterações no uso e cobertura do solo (LULC) numa determinada área são vitais para o desenvolvimento, planeamento e gestão sustentáveis. O objetivo deste artigo é examinar o efeito de ampliação na relação entre as mudanças no LULC (uso e cobertura do solo), que criam um impacto significativo na LST (temperatura da superfície do solo), com base no caso de SAS (Sahibzada Ajit Singh) Nagar, Mohali. O GIS é utilizado neste estudo com foco na análise do presente e na previsão do futuro. Este estudo está a ser realizado para a década anterior, ou seja, 2010-2020. Neste estudo, foram utilizadas imagens de satélite de 2000, 2010 e 2020 para a classificação supervisionada do LULC. A análise da LST para diferentes classes de LULC indica que a temperatura cai na seguinte ordem: área construída, árida, agrícola e, em seguida, superfícies vegetais. Este estudo será uma bênção para os engenheiros ambientais na proposta de políticas adequadas para a gestão das paisagens urbanas.
