O tema do presente trabalho consiste na aplicação de uma proposta didática de aprendizagem por descoberta num contexto construtivista sobre a tabuada, com o objetivo de explorar e descrever a forma como o aluno aborda e desenvolve o conhecimento sobre a tabuada e, ao mesmo tempo, descobrir se a estratégia proporciona uma melhor oportunidade de aprendizagem do que a tradicionalmente utilizada pelos professores. Foi construída uma proposta de aprendizagem para a sua aplicação e os seus resultados foram medidos através de um pós-teste, da filmagem de vídeos e da análise dos comentários e soluções de problemas gerados pelos alunos. A amostra da investigação foi constituída por 28 alunos do grupo do segundo ano, secção 'B'. São apresentados os resultados do teste-piloto (2008-2009), bem como os do grupo de aplicação e da investigação subsequente (2010-2011) realizada com base no interesse dos dados obtidos.
