Wynken, Blynken, & Nod and WellsboroEugene Field’s classic bedtime poem--about three children’s adventures sailing in a wooden shoe--is brought to life with Linda Stager’s photographs.The statue of Wynken, Blynken, & Nod was created by Colorado artist Mabel Landrum in the early 1920s. The mayor of Denver, Robert W. Speer admired the original work so much that he commissioned the artist to sculpt one in marble for Washington Park in Denver, Colorado.The original bronze statue was donated by Fred Bailey in honor of his wife, ElizabethCameron Bailey. The statue was placed in her memory on Wellsboro’s Green, whereIt has remained since its dedication on Friday, September 23, 1938.
