Such was the relief when the terrible First World War ended that much of the intricacy of reaching an Armistice soon became obscure; but on October 12th 1918 while Prime Minister Lloyd George was staying at Danny House, near Hurstpierpoint, news reached him that the United States had almost agreed a bi-lateral armistice with Germany to the great disadvantage of the Empire. In confronting this situation at an impromptu War Cabinet the next day, the Minutes record that Lloyd George lost a vote to continue fighting until the Allies occupied German Territory.The play was commissioned by Hurst Festival for performance in 2018 to commemorate the centenary of the Danny House War Cabinet.
