Radon jest naturalnym gazem radioaktywnym, który jest wydychany z gleby i materiałów budowlanych, i ma tendencję do koncentracji w miejscach o niskiej wentylacji. Według UNSCEAR 52 % naturalnej dawki promieniowania otrzymywanej przez człowieka pochodzi od radonu, a większość narażenia występuje w pomieszczeniach zamkniętych. Według WHO, choroby takie jak rak płuc mogą być spowodowane przez wdychanie radonu. Przy użyciu detektorów LR115 i CR39 w trybie nagim, stężenie radonu zostało zmierzone w dwóch pomieszczeniach w domu na północ od Limy. Zróżnicowano je poprzez wentylację, podczas pomiaru jedno pozostawało zamknięte, a drugie utrzymywało otwarte okno. Pomiary zostały przeprowadzone w czerwcu i lipcu 2019 roku. Następnie detektory zostały poddane procesowi wytrawiania w Laboratorium Odcisków Palców Jądrowych w Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). Odczyt śladów ujawnionych w CR39 wykonano za pomocą mikroskopu LEICA, a dla LR115 zastosowano system POLITRACK. Zgodnie z wynikami z LR115, stężenie radonu wykazuje zachowanie oscylujące, które zmniejsza się wraz ze wzrostem odległości od ściany.
