But Darcy was my friend, and the relationship I had with her was probably the healthiest male/female relationship I’d ever had, and I just didn’t want to screw it up. She was too important to me to be a one night stand-even though I knew it would be amazing-and I’m a one night stand kind of guy. That might be an awful thing to admit, but I’m not whole, and I didn’t think it was fair to lump my baggage onto someone else. So having Darcy as a friend was the only way to keep her in my life, and I definitely wanted to keep her.
