At the height of his national success, Ion Idriess wrote nine articles for the new national magazine Walkabout which presage his future books. These were published between 1934 and 1938 when places like the Torres Strait, the Kimberleys, Darwin, and the Northern Territory were the final frontiers for most Australians. This is the first time they have been collected, along with three other stories from this period.
