As the title suggests, this book is a wake-up call to my fellow Americans ... to get themselves back on the road that brought America to greatness over a long historical process, one lasting over three centuries − from the early 1600s until America arrived at superpower status in the follow-up to World War Two (by the 1950s). The book digs deeply into that long historical record - to bring to light the fact that it was a moral-spiritual dynamic, not a political-economic one, that brought about this development. And that moral-spiritual dynamic was not a random one, nor one produced by human reason ... but one that arose from a covenant that America’s founders made with God − to take up the mission of being 'A Light to the Nations.'  America was called by God to show the world Jesus’s way ... where a people - an ordinary people - could and would take on the responsibilities of living under their own authority, by their own personal faith in God and his support - rather than doing so (like the rest of the world) under the mastery of some kind of all-powerful ruling class of 'superior' individuals. But sadly that same understanding has gradually disappeared ... as 'enlightened ones' have taken it upon themselves to do 'democracy from above' ... taking authority to serve the people better than they are supposedly able to do so themselves. And sadly, those holding out in their efforts to keep America on track with its original grass-roots covenant with God are finding it increasingly difficult to do so ... in the face of everything from the decisions of federal judges and bureaucrats to the ever-pressing 24/7 flow of commentaries offered by media hosts on how things ought to be going in America. Thus America needs another God-delivered Great Awakening to get itself back on moral-spiritual track ... so that human 'reason from above' does not plunge the country ever deeper into the tragic social division crippling the country today − one that gives China reason to believe that it will soon be the world’s sole superpower.
