Blues' ist eine autobiografische Erzählung über das Aufwachsen in den Trümmern des Nachkriegsberlins und schildert das Leben eines Jungen, der sich durch das Ergreifen aller sich ihm bietenden Gelegenheiten über Wasser hält. Er geht an einem Tag bis zu drei Jobs nach. Zu seinen Abenteuern gehören der Kauf und Verkauf von Schnittblumen, die Gründung einer Autowaschfirma im Alter von 12 Jahren und die Teilnahme an Trabrennen. Schließlich wandert er als voll ausgebildeter Handwerker nach Südafrika aus.
