Through Human Eyes was a project created to connect people across generations, foster social inclusion, spark visibility, and gather community. At the heart of it, we wanted to introduce elementary school children to the amazing individuals living in a nearby retirement home-people we had come to know and admire deeply. We hoped to create a space where everyone felt welcomed, included, and empowered to shape how the project would unfold. That meant we started not with events but with many conversations-so that all voices could be heard from the beginning. This book was proudly co-created with our Olders and our VT students. It is a privilege to share a glimpse into the lives and stories of older adults, who don’t always feel seen in our culture.Together, we aim to create lasting community bonds between children and the elderly, contribute to a legacy of compassion, and continue to explore what it means to be human.
