Hugh Lofting (1886-1947) was a British author who was also trained as a civil engineer. In addition to writing the classic children's character, Doctor Dolittle, he illustrated all his stories as well. The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle follow a country doctor who can speak to animals as he travels the world, using his gift for good. This is the first volume (of eight books) detailing the adventures of Doctor Dolittle.
