The Visitations of Essex, Part 2 is a book published by the Harleian Society in 1879. It is a genealogical record of the families who lived in Essex, England during the 16th and 17th centuries. The book is a continuation of Part 1, which was published in 1878. The Visitations were a series of inquiries made by the College of Arms, the official heraldic authority in England, to establish the right of individuals to bear coats of arms. The inquiries were conducted by heralds who visited the homes of the gentry and recorded their pedigrees, or family histories. The Visitations of Essex were conducted in 1552, 1558, 1570, 1612, and 1634. This book contains transcripts of the pedigrees recorded during the 1612 and 1634 Visitations. The pedigrees include information such as the names of ancestors, their occupations, marriages, and children. The book also includes an index of names, which makes it easier for readers to find information about specific individuals or families. The Visitations of Essex, Part 2 is a valuable resource for genealogists, historians, and anyone interested in the history of Essex. It provides a glimpse into the lives of the gentry during a period of great social and political change in England. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world’s literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
