He also chronicled the colorful adventures of Doctor Bonhomet collected in The Vampire Soul. Poet Paul Verlaine called Villiers’ works a 'genial melange of irony, metaphysics and terror'and translator Brian Stableford dubs it 'a bizarre literary landmark.'
