The Silver Orchid is a coming of age adventure that takes place during the late 1960s during a period where bullying, drug use, hippies, juvenile delinquency, and free sex are prevalent.Despite his over the top Genius IQ, all 15 year old Donny Lord really wants is to be reunited with his childhood sweetheart, as they are both finally entering the same high school together, only after being dreadfully separated by different middle schools for, in Donny’s case, 3 grueling years. His obsession is based on an end of the summer afternoon that he had spent with his neighbor and best friend, Kelly Mosley, and a special moment they shared while visiting a 'Secret Waterfall' deep in the woods behind Donny’s house, when they were both only 12 years old.Donny ultimately learns that holding on to past moments and prying at a closed door, might just mean that that door, sadly... just wasn’t meant to be his door to open. 3
