The Resurrection of Miss Cynthia is a novel written by Florence Morse Kingsley and published in 1905. The story is set in the late 19th century and follows the life of Cynthia Lennox, a young woman who is believed to have died from a fever. However, Cynthia is actually alive and has been living in seclusion for many years due to a traumatic event that occurred in her past. The novel begins with Cynthia’s childhood and her close relationship with her father, a wealthy businessman. After her father’s death, Cynthia is sent to live with her aunt and uncle, who are cruel and abusive towards her. Eventually, Cynthia is forced to leave her home and live on the streets, where she meets a kind-hearted woman named Mrs. Maitland.Under Mrs. Maitland’s care, Cynthia begins to heal from her past trauma and eventually falls in love with a young man named Philip. However, their happiness is short-lived when Cynthia is falsely accused of a crime and sentenced to prison. After serving her time, Cynthia changes her name and disappears from society. Years later, she is discovered by a young doctor named Dr. Dexter, who helps her to reclaim her identity and reunite with her loved ones. The Resurrection of Miss Cynthia is a story of resilience, love, and the power of redemption. It explores themes of trauma, abuse, and the importance of community and support in healing from past wounds. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
