This book is a result of many years of writing informational text to increase the amount of science that students experience. Our goal in writing text has always been to create engaging readers and help students build a better understanding of the world around them. With this in mind, we wanted to create a different type of offering to replace the traditional textbook. Throughout this book, you will notice a variety of writing styles used to better engage the student with the text (e.g., realistic fiction) and also help them see the world through different perspectives (e.g., First-Person, Second-Person, & Third-Person). You will also find examples of a more traditional expository style to round out our approach. While the styles of text may vary, we have carefully crafted this book to include all the information needed to understand the targeted science content.
