This book, the nature of mountains, is poetry of the natural world where something meaningful bodies forth. The mountains are a source point that allow this to occur; this can be found in the city as well if we know how to release and go there. These poems cover leaving, dimension, your mountain, yosemite journal, and Adventures in Weather. Many years working and living in Yosemite National Park by the author help give much to this poetry. Some of these poems were presented at the Yosemite Centennial Celebration Concert in The Great Lounge of the Ahwahnee Hotel, September 2, 1990, sponsored by the National Park Service. All of us at one time or another find the pull to the mountains overwhelming, poets cannot help but draw inspiration and are compelled to write. Here is one such collection. 3

The ambiguously titled Love Bites is the debut offering from K D Halliwell, a Milton Keynes based author who describes the collection as a document of her twenties. Original and with a format that stands out from the ordinary, it is proving particularly well-received by those who “don’t normally like poetry”. Originally written by hand, the author has traversed a fine line betw...

‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....

What he has assembled here is a set of poems written in the aftermath of a divorce. I like this book so much that I am almost grateful for the divorce, because without it, I doubt we would have such a window into this gentle soul. Here there is pain, and joy, and something that straddles them, what John at times refers to as “beauty.”The poetry is disarmingly mature. He’s not t...

John Peterson claims that the only justification for the surprise ending is that life itself is full of surprises. Our lives are full of strange accidents. He rightly invokes G.K. Those who are convinced that everything is explained by sociological pressur...
