The Mountain Lovers is a novel written by Fiona MacLeod. The book tells the story of two lovers, Fiona and Ian, who live in the Scottish Highlands. Fiona is a young woman who is deeply in love with Ian, a mountain guide who takes her on adventures through the rugged terrain of the Highlands. As they explore the mountains together, they fall deeper in love and build a life together. However, their idyllic life is interrupted when Ian is called away to fight in World War I. Fiona is left behind to wait anxiously for his return, and as the war drags on, she begins to fear the worst. When Ian finally returns, he is a changed man, haunted by the horrors of war. Fiona must help him heal and find their way back to each other amidst the struggles of post-war life. The Mountain Lovers is a poignant and beautifully written novel about love, loss, and the enduring power of the human spirit. It is a tribute to the resilience of the human heart and the beauty of the Scottish Highlands. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...
