An inexplicable sense of doom, a husband preparing for his second transplant and our marriage on shaky ground...My husband couldn't wait to have a working pancreas and I couldn't blame him. A working pancreas would mean no more seizures and no more kidney dialysis. Approximately a month after a successful transplant, he suffered a massive stroke which nearly took his life and left him completely disabled. The irony was that he finally had a working pancreas even though almost everything else had been taken from him. The life we knew was completely obliterated and, in mid life, I was left to care for my husband and our fifteen year old daughter. Just prior to the tragedy, in a moment when I felt completely overwhelmed, I prayed for God to come into my life and take over. We were taken through our own valley of shadows. In the midst of it all, God gave me courage to stand against emotional abuse, brought justice to end persecution, strength to forgive and finally saving grace and reconciliation for my husband and me.What was meant to destroy was transformed into victory.
