1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.בראשית היה הדבר, והדבר היה עם אלוהים, והדבר היה אלוהים۔1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.אותו הדבר היה בראשית עם אלוהים۔1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.הכל נברא על ידו، ובלעדיו לא נברא שום דבר שנברא۔1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.בו היו חיים، והחיים היו אור האדם۔1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.והאור מאיר בחושך، והחושך לא הבין אותו۔1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.היה אדם שנשלח מאלוהים, ושמו יוחנן۔1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.הוא בא לעדות, להעיד על האור, למען יאמינו כל האנשים דרכו۔1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.הוא לא היה האור הזה, אלא נשלח להעיד על האור הזה۔
