The author’s stories strongly reflect the style of one of his favorite writers, William Sidney Porter, better known as 'O.Henry', and his surprise endings.The main story, The Fantastic Muse, begins quietly in a small college environment where a young college professor and the beautiful daughter of the dean of the English department fall in love. The reader is lulled into a pleasant, soothing small town setting and the tender affections of the two young people. Just as the reader has sat back and relaxed the plot suddenly take a twist that jars the reader from his complacency.
