In The Destruction of Logic from Within, the author proposes that because logic is a finite tool of understanding, it can be therefore surpassed by its own definition as a parametrically restrictive way to see and understand the world. This will be done by exploring the idea that the internal breakdown of logical understanding itself becomes by extension, a logical gateway toward seeking individual spiritual growth. In this way, awareness of the finite limits of human understanding become an excellent opportunity to find greater meaning and purpose. The book shows that when knowledge is derived largely from sources of logical understanding alone, at both individual and societal levels, the result is many scientific advancements and improvements, and this is good for material and physical world well-being. Yet, because of its finite nature, areas of study relying solely on logical understanding alone simply cannot respond to the question: ’why’ in the most existential sense. The book is part philosophy and part theology. The Destruction of Logic from Within goes on to show ways in which logic and faith can be compatible, complementary, and even reciprocal, despite the prevailing and reflexive assumption often found in the Western world to the contrary. The book sets course by telling the story of how spiritual freedom of conscience and the First Amendment helped to create the concept of a ’marketplace of spiritual ideas’. The author connects the decoupling of individual and personal spiritual formation from religious customary cultural obligations and practice and from political governance and oversight, to argue that the result is both an improved spiritual and physical-world life for people who explore and practice personal spiritual growth free from such adherences. The Destruction of Logic from Within also examines the biblical basis of freedom of conscience, and for the rationalist skeptic, puts scriptural coherence under a microscope. Some brief supplemental materials and a glossary clarify the use of the terms and concepts found inside. Each chapter of this freshly revised 2nd edition of Experiments in Christian Thought Volume 1 builds on the previous to present a strong argument that it is a sound and logical choice to accept the enduring Christian message of God’s love.
