Amongst The Dead Sea Scrolls discovered in Qumran was an ancient casket. Realising its’ significance it was stolen by an observer with the archaeological team and taken to The Vatican, where it was hidden for years in their archives. The secret was discovered by a visiting American Cardinal who eventually uncovered its’ hiding place and taken to America, where, with the assistance of a young scientist, its’ potential could be untapped and used to influence the transfer of Christian Authority to the USA as the conspirators believed The Vatican’s influence was waning in the corrupt and scandal ridden intrigues in Rome. The scheme was discovered by an American cryptologist, following the death of his journalist fiancee alongside her colleague who was investigating it. As a communications and data security expert, he was hired by Governments and other organisations to advise them on the increasing role of cybersecurity, One of these was The Vatican itself, and with his expertise he was able to dig out the identity of the young prelate who had leaked it to the American journalist..The cryptologist became embroiled in the plot in Rome, and then in America, subsequently ending up in the remote ranch in Nevada, where the the final episode was to take place. Others, though, both within the Roman Catholic Church and other faiths, realised the danger of the scheme, and set out to stop it.

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present. Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
