WORD TO THE READER! Dear reader, welcome! We’re going to learn about a topic that is so present in the life of every health professional, but which is still little explored: suicide and suicidal ideation. We’ll discuss how this field of suicide and suicidal ideation came to be, how important it is in life and for professional activity, and how we should act when faced with this type of demand. I’m sure you’ve met someone at work, in your family or in your group of friends who has suffered from this problem. People who have complained of anxiety, depression, someone who has been involved with drugs and other mental disorders. If we as health professionals don’t delve deeper into this subject, we will come across situations like these in our daily lives and won’t know how to act. That’s why the content of this book is of fundamental importance for promoting health in the population. By the end, you will have basic information that can guide the early detection of suicidal behaviour, as well as the initial management of people who are at risk and prevention measures. Are you ready? Let’s go. Sandra M. P. Conceição. April/2019.
