L’area di Pranmalai è generalmente un terreno di roccia dura. Non ci sono rocce sedimentarie a Pranamalai, ad eccezione di alluvioni recenti del suolo. Il Geological Survey of India [GSI], del Tamilnadu, ha già lavorato su una mappatura geologica casuale nel Tamilnadu e anche intorno alla regione di Pranmalai. Tuttavia, nessuna organizzazione aveva mai effettuato una mappatura geologica dettagliata nella regione di Pranmalai e nei suoi dintorni. Tenendo presente questo obiettivo, in questo progetto si è cercato di delineare la petrografia e la mineralogia strutturale del lavoro di mappatura geologica nelle colline di Pranmalai e dintorni, nel distretto di Sivagangai, Tamilnadu, India. Questo è il primo lavoro di ricerca avanzato nella suddetta area di studio.
