Uno dei materiali che possono sostituire le armature in cemento armato è la fibra. L’armatura del calcestruzzo con fibre al posto dell’armatura riduce il peso del calcestruzzo ed elimina i danni causati dalla corrosione e dall’erosione dell’acciaio. Inoltre, riducendo il consumo di acciaio, ci si può avvicinare alla realizzazione di un calcestruzzo sostenibile. Il rinforzo delle strutture in calcestruzzo con fibre è uno dei metodi per migliorare le proprietà meccaniche e migliorare le prestazioni di flessione e trazione con cui le miscele fragili mostrano un comportamento in qualche modo elastico. In questo libro è stata studiata la resistenza a compressione dei calcestruzzi contenenti macro fibre sintetiche, sono stati effettuati in laboratorio campioni di compressione con percentuali dello 0-1,5% e sono state eseguite le prove necessarie. Infine, abbiamo concluso che l’aggiunta di fibre aumenta la resistenza a compressione del calcestruzzo dell’1,5%. Inoltre, nel software Abaqus agli elementi finiti, un telaio di calcestruzzo a 3 piani contenente fibre viene modellato e sottoposto a carico ciclico. L’uso delle fibre riduce circa il 25% delle armature senza ridurre la resistenza.
