When Becky Collins receives an unexpected invitation to Abigale Cartwright’s annual Halloween party, she’s ready for nothing more than a night of pumpkin punch and questionable costumes. But when her chauffeur for the night turns out to be the very last person she expects it to be she also gets an invitation to self defense classes. Becky has never been one to back down from a challenge, but learning self-defence? That’s a whole new battlefield. Encouraged by Penny, her spirit cat, Becky finds herself sweating through Krav Maga classes at the Daw Park Community Centre under the watchful eye of non other than local cops Dan Mann and Viv Andrews who run the classes. She might be a fast learner, but bruises and humility come with the territory. But before she can fully grasp the defensive moves, reality throws her into the deep end-a baby is kidnapped in broad daylight, vanishing without a trace. The police are running in circles, and seriously understaffed due to a serial killer case dropping into their patch and two officers out of action injured. The clock is ticking, and every lead seems to dissolve into thin air. With no time to waste, Becky and Penny are called into the case, chasing an elusive kidnapper who always seems to be one step ahead.
