Alguns ingredientes farmacêuticos activos (API) têm propriedades físico-químicas adversas que reduzem consideravelmente a sua biodisponibilidade. O objetivo deste estudo é apresentar sistemas de administração de fármacos (DDS) baseados em biopolímeros que possam melhorar a biodisponibilidade dos APIs, controlar a sua libertação e melhorar a sua relação benefício/risco. Este livro está dividido em três capítulos. No primeiro capítulo, apresentamos as vantagens do MDS. O segundo capítulo apresenta as vantagens da utilização de complexos de inclusão (CI) de ciclodextrina (CD) para encapsular os APs e os seus métodos de preparação e caraterização. Descrevemos o estado atual da investigação sobre o encapsulamento de uma série de CDs. O terceiro capítulo aborda a importância das nanopartículas (NPs) poliméricas como vectores de AP e os seus métodos de preparação e caraterização. Este capítulo apresenta também alguns biopolímeros amplamente utilizados na síntese de NPs. Este livro destina-se a estudantes e investigadores que trabalham no domínio do desenvolvimento de novas formas galénicas.
