Alice Elizabeth Dracott
These Indian folk tales, passed on to her by local village women, were translated by the author, with the help of her sister and husband, while she was living in the Punjab in the early 1900s. The collection was first published in 1906 after her return to England following an earthquake in April 1905. With seven full-page illustrations by the author and a photographic portrait of one of the village women as a frontispiece.
