In diesem Buch wurde die zweidimensionale Hauptkomponentenanalyse (2DPCA) verwendet, um anomale Reaktionen des Gesamtelektronengehalts (TEC) in der Ionosphäre zu bestimmen und beide schweren Katastrophen in Taiwan zu untersuchen. Die möglichen Ursachen der Analyseergebnisse wurden diskutiert, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf akustischen Schockwellen lag, die die TEC-Anomalien für den Schlammlawinenunglück im Dorf Xiaolin und die gewaltige Gasexplosion in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, verursachten. Es ist erwähnenswert, dass es möglich ist, den Zeitpunkt des Eintretens solcher Katastrophen kurz vor ihrem Eintreten vorherzusagen, sofern diese Katastrophen sehr groß sind, um die Zahl der Todesopfer zu verringern. Der Autor gedenkt der Todesopfer der beiden Katastrophen. Die taiwanesische Regierung muss für diese schweren Katastrophen verurteilt werden.
