W niniejszej publikacji oszacowano rolę różnych rodzimych gatunków drzew, które odgrywają istotną rolę w ograniczaniu emisji cząstek stałych PM 2,5. W celu zebrania danych przeprowadzono monitoring w czasie rzeczywistym. Urządzenia pomiarowe zainstalowano wewnątrz korony drzew oraz pięćdziesiąt metrów pod wiatr, a następnie porównano uzyskane dane, aby sprawdzić rolę drzew w redukcji PM. Drzewa o szerokich liściach, pierzastym kutykulę i większej liczbie aparatów szparkowych są bardziej skuteczne niż drzewa o małych liściach i mniejszej liczbie aparatów szparkowych. Drzewa są najlepszymi filtrami redukującymi zanieczyszczenia.
