This paper presents the utilisation of bentonite and natural phosphate for the removal of methylene blue by adsorption. The materials were characterised using various physicochemical techniques and their efficiency was evaluated in relation to the main operating parameters. The results show that bentonite possesses excellent adsorption capacity and that the process, described by the Langmuir and pseudo-second-order models, is spontaneous and endothermic. This study highlights the potential of these locally sourced materials as a sustainable, economical and environmentally friendly solution for the treatment of polluted water.
